Michael Joseph Oliveri

Michael Oliveri is a consulting partner at PwC where he leads the U.S. Banking and Capital Markets Deals Business. Michael advises boards, CEOs, and executive leadership teams on some of the most complex mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and business transformations in the financial services industry. He specializes in helping organizations navigate the strategic and operational challenges that accompany major transactions—from due diligence and integration planning through execution and long-term value creation.

Over the course of his career, Michael has advised many of the world’s leading financial institutions, payments companies, fintechs, and banks on transactions involving billions of dollars in enterprise value. His work spans mergers and acquisitions, corporate strategy, operating model design, post-merger integration, separation planning, and large-scale transformation. He is a frequent speaker at executive conferences and industry events, where he shares perspectives on the future of banking, payments, and financial services.

Outside of client work, Michael is deeply interested in the intersection of business, history, culture, and ideas. He writes about leadership, ambition, finance, and the forces shaping modern institutions, with a particular fascination for how markets, technology, and human behavior influence one another. He believes the most enduring careers are built not simply on expertise, but on curiosity and the ability to connect disciplines that are rarely discussed together.

A lifelong student of architecture and design, Michael has a particular appreciation for early American history and traditional craftsmanship. He lives in New England in a Federal-style Colonial Revival home and enjoys collecting antiques, traveling, discovering exceptional restaurants, and exploring cultures around the world.
